Starcraft 2

Yes, the day is finally here. Yesterday was the day Starcraft II was released into the wild. Being the die-hard Starcraft fanboy that I am, I pre-ordered my copy last week to go along with my original copy of the original Starcraft that I have had sence it's launch 12 years ago. I am very excited for this game. I know it will be at the top of its charts for years to come, just like it's predecessor (Starcraft) was and still is. I don't know, I might do a review of this game later this year.

IRT - Himalayas

I was watching a new episode of Ice Road Truckers a couple weeks ago and during one of the commercial breaks they aired a teaser trailer for Ice Road Truckers: Himalayas. I, for one am pretty interested in this new show. I think it said that it would be airing in late 2010. We'll see what happens. (I have briefly looked on the Internet for any information about this new show, but to no avail.)

Tractor Pull Season!

Oh, yes. I love me a good ole tractor pull. And this is the biggest one of the year (for where I live.) What I am speaking of is the 34th annual Lions Super Pull of the South. I have attend this event in the past, you can check-out one of my Flickr pages. Tractor Pulls are very fun, loud and crowded. I would highly recommend anybody to attend at least one in their lifetime, I'm glad I did!

"Water, Water, everywhere! (and not a drop to drink)"

A few weeks ago (the weekend of May 1, 2010 to be exact), Nashville, TN (and surrounding areas) was struck down by tremendous amounts of rainfall. This event (an estimated 15 inches of rain, a new record for rainfall in Nashville's history) led to days/weeks of road closures due to high water, debris and devastation. Personally, I would like to thank the local Government Officials for the immediate action that they  took to inform, protect and serve the victims of the Flood and the general public. I was very pleased to see how fast Clear Channel reacted to the Flood (via their huge Radiothon), you can read more about that here. I realize there were many other Radiothons, Telethons and the like, but I can't name them all. I would also like to that the Red Cross who sent numerous trucks up from Alabama to help out with the relief efforts. FEMA is doing a good job to, thanks.

I am very proud to live here in Tennessee, because during this crisis everyone here volunteered immediately. They don't call it "The Volunteer State" for nothin'!

I am proud to say that I volunteered and gave back to the communities in Bellevue and West Nashville by helping them with the clean-up for about 2 weeks. It's crazy, because during that time I couldn't tell you what I did on what day. All the days seemed to blur/run together.

I was amazed to hear about these people in Kingston Springs, TN (another area affected by the Flood) whom were in need of bleach and thus posted it on Facebook. Believe it or not, about an hour or so later people came from all over the state of TN with truckloads of bleach for these people that they bought with their own money and were willing to donate it to them. That just goes to show you the power of the Internet.

I and most of my friends and family were fortunate enough not to be displaced by the Flood.

That being said, my thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the great Flood of 2010.

IRT s4!

That's right! Ice Road Truckers is back for it's 4th season starting Sunday June 6, 2010 @ 9pm/8pm CST. The History Channel just released a "Sneak Peek". Well, it sounds like they are still in Alaska. With "New Truckers" "New Challenges" and "New Threats", this should be their best season yet! I'm excited. Can't you tell?

That was crazy!

Saturday afternoon (4-17-2010), I turned on the Cardinals-Mets game. Right-off-the-bat (pun intended), I noticed that it was in the 12th inning. I watched late into the night, and went to bed before the game ended (top of the 19th... I think.) Anyway, I awoke the following morning, checked the score on TV and found that the team I was rooting for lost, 2-1. Twenty innings and Six long hours (almost 7), was what it all amounted to in the end. To date, the most innings played in a Major League Baseball game (during regular season) was 24 innings. But still, this one was an incredible game to watch unfold.

My First Impressions - Apple iPad

Last Monday night, I dropped-by my local Apple Store and tried-out their new slate/tablet computer/device (iPad). Let me say right off the bat, what a gorgeous screen this thing has! I didn't notice much lag (as far as software is concerned) at all.

Here is a quick run-down of what I thought:
  • Internet Experience (Safari): Good (well, better than I thought it would be)
  • YouTube: Good
  • E-Books (iBooks): Very cool
  • iPod / Music: Pretty good
  • On-Screen Keyboard: Looks nice, but takes some getting use-to; Ok, overall
Well, I didn't spend much time at all with it (about less than 10 minutes.) I kinda like it, but I ain't gonna buy one for various reasons.

I might do a review on this product, but I am still on the fence about it. Stay tuned.

My Review - Back Beat Classic Headphones

Warm weather has returned, and that means I'm back on the tractors again. Due to a (tragic) accident at a gas station where my Zune Premium Headphones got broken, I was recently in the market for some new headphones. I did some window-shopping around town, and didn't see anything that really wowed me. So I settled for a pair at my local BestBuy. I went with Altec Lansing's Back Beat Classic Noise-isolating earphones. In comparison to the identical Sony brand, for about $10.00 (USC) less and slightly better performance and durability, I couldn't go wrong... and I didn't.

First impressions:
  • Great sound.
  • I like the lengthy and durable/rugged cord.
  • Very noise-isolating.
I like the fact that it came with an assorted (different sizes) pack of silicone ear tips (small, medium and large.)

I didn't like how the ends of the earbuds were not magnetic, like my Zune Premium Headphones were.

Though I did say a negative thing or two about this product, I am still gonna give it 5 head-bobs out of 5.
